A Brief Account of the CCTV Camera Storage Requirements

All visual or audio data these days are stored in digital format. With every passing day, surveillance requires transmission of terabytes of storage for multiple cameras that are operational in a given property. Thus, the need for storage of data is growing by leaps and bounds every day. And when we speak about the storage requirements, the chapter is divided into two categories - short term and long term storage. Short Term Storage Short term storage can be defined as the recycling of available storage space by using the FIFO (First-In-First-Out) Principle. Put in the other way, if your drive has a storage capacity recording for say, 15 days, an incident that has taken place 17 days back cannot be retrieved.
